About.

All Access All the time!

It is the beginning of a new year.  For some many people that means new years resolutions and desires to make big changes.  I'm not really one for new years resolutions.  I do however LOVE new years goals.  I love to use the nest 365 days as a deadline for my goals.  Some goals are work related.  Some goals are family related.  Many goals are health related.  Not just physical health but mental health as well.  What I try to do is avoid setting large, difficult to measure goals.  Maybe I don't want to measure my health goals in pounds but I might measure them in what I can lift, how far I can run or health loose my clothing fits.  Then I need to outline how I will achieve that goal.  What will I do differently than last year?  What worked?  What didn't?  Did having a gym membership work for me?  Do I know I falter with 90 day workout programs but I excel at 21 day programs?  Do I do better with meal planning or does calorie counting work?

For me this year I have big, big goals for my health.  Meditation is just one of them.  I have a 10 miler planned, plus I'm hoping to run at least 2 half marathons.  Plus, I'd like to get back into some pre-pregnancy clothes.

Live. Eat. Rejoice.

When we first decided to start this blog we had a few goals in mind.  We wanted to share our lives.  Lives where we strive to be the healthiest and happiest we can be while being socially, environmentally and financially responsible.  We made a plan for what we wanted to feature.  We would talk about what we eat, how we exercise, how we spend our life.  We are two women rejoicing in the highs and lows of married life with young children in homes we are renovating while working multiple jobs.

It is our goal to live clean lives filled with healthy homemade foods, green cleaning solutions, lots of exercise and love.  But that doesn't mean we don't have pizza from a delivery guy, jarred baby food, and the occasional chemical in our house.  All this is well and good, but where do we start?

Right now I am half way through a menu plan. Not for the weekend, not for just this week but for the next 8 weeks.  I have a pantry and freezer full of miscellaneous food and an end to maternity leave very quickly approaching.  Time to clean out the house and save some money.   My goal was to do this while keeping my family to clean eating and myself to paleo eating.  The meals should also be as quick and easy as possible because a full time job, a part-time job, and two munchkins doesn't give me much time for fancy meals.  After taking an inventory of the pantry and freezer I figured out a game plan.  Factoring in leftovers, the occasional tuna melt, or breakfast for dinner and one wild card a week (I mean sometimes you just want pizza) I had 8 weeks worth of dinners.  Food will still need to be purchased for breakfast and lunch but the goal is to stay on a strict budget.  I must tell you, so far so good.  Knowing what we are going to eat so far in advance is a relief.  We get freebies, for example tomorrow night because of the great weather we're going to have burgers on the grill and I need to buy meat for that but we are sticking to food from the freezer.

Amazingly enough I have over estimated our eating needs and we will probably be able to get 9 or 10 weeks out of these foods.  Even more amazing, I'm going to do this again!  Stay tuned in May for a month of economical, healthy freezer filling and a new menu plan.
Essentially my goals for this 8 week menu plan are the same as our goals for this blog.  To strive to live, eat and rejoice in a clean manner and ideally on a budget.

We hope you will share in this adventure.
